Is Afterlife a Horror Game?

In short - no! While the theme is a little macabre we are not in the horror genre of escape rooms. Expect a few dark and confined spaces, some creepy atmopheric music and a couple of suprises along the way but nothing which is designed to be frightening.

Why choose to play an X-it escape game?

Since opening in August 2018 we have been delighted to receive many great reviews both on Trip Advisor and by a wide range of reviewers in the escape game industry. Most notably The Logic Escapes Me awarded us a *Golden Key* as one of writer Ken Ferguson's favourite games of 2018. Of the thousands of games across Europe, only 8 in the UK made it onto the list!

Do we need to come early?

No, while we ask players not to be late you do not need to arrive before the time of your booking and doing so may mean the room isn't yet ready for you.

How many people can make up a team?

This escape game is best enjoyed in groups of 2-6 players.

Am I Safe?

The whole experience is designed with your safety as a priority - all teams are monitored by staff via CCTV at all times. During the designing and building of all X-it Games we work closely with building control. This ensures that all health and safety standards have been adhered to. We are proud to have been routinely visited by Yorkshire Fire department who ensure we maintain our fire safety standards.

Will you actually lock us in?

No, you are never actually locked in. Should you wish to leave at any point during the experience simply alert our staff who will be able to show you the way out.

What do I need to bring and what do I wear?

Just bring yourself with your brain in gear!  Everything you need for the experience will be supplied. We recommend you wear comfortable shoes and clothing that you can move easily in.

Arriving by Train or on foot?

We are less than a 5 minute walk from Shipley Train Station and a 10 minute walk from Saltaire village.

What is a live escape game?

You and your team will be 'locked' within the escape game space for one hour. There will be a series of clues and riddles which will lead your team to puzzles and challenges.  Solve these and you will move through the game and find your way out. Think Crystal Maze meets Fort Boyard.

Do we have to book?

Yes, to avoid disappointment please book ahead. Full payment is taken at the time of booking. You can do this by visiting the BOOK NOW page which is always up to date with all available slots. We can often accommodate a last minute booking to enquire please call 07756126811.

What age do players have to be?

We recommend the game for players aged 12 and above. The experience is designed to be enjoyed as a challenge for a group of adults. This is not a children's activity. However players 12 and over are welcome to come as part of a family group.

Can I bring my baby?

Yes! We have had a number of babes in arms through our doors and while they aren't great at the puzzles they are welcome. We recommend bringing a comfortable hands free carrier so you can still be as involved in the game as possible.

To play an X-it escape game all participants must be physically active. To follow the normal game flow participants must be agile enough to navigate crawl spaces, ramps and foot holes. With prior notification we can offer players a by-pass to the crawl space and foot holes. However these players must still be able to manage two steps up and down un-aided by a handrail. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the game, it is not wheelchair accessible.

One of the challenges players face is based around sound and requires the ability to hear. Also a sound alert will be made to tell your team that clues are being given. For these reasons it is advisable to have one or more team member who are fully hearing. If your team consists of any hard of hearing individuals please make us aware at booking so we can provide you with transcripts to aid your involvement in the game. If you or any of your team members are partially sighted or have visual impairments please do get in touch beforehand.

We would love to make our escape game experience open to anyone who wishes to take part. If you have any particular requirements please get in touch beforehand. We are more than happy to talk to you a little more about the experience and we will do our best to accommodate any special requirements.

How do I find you? Where can I park?

Follow a Sat Nav to BD18 3SP.  This will take you to Atkinson's Street car park where it is free to park after 6pm Monday to Saturday and on a Sunday. From the car park simply turn left on Commercial Street (this is the main road) and you will find us on the left. Free parking during the day can be found on surrounding streets.
